10 Great Places to take comfort in nature

“The Boulders Inn is one of the most impressive inns in Connecticut ….The Key to the inn’s
appeal is a refined air mixed with pleasant informality”

Zagat Ratings & Review

The country inn you’ve always hoped to find”,¬†this “cozy, romantic¬†and relaxing” New American “justifies the trek” to New Preston’s Lake Waramaug; on “lazy summer evenings”, “excellent food” is served on a “charming terrace overlooking the lake”, while in Winter, the “elegant” dining room is the focus.

The setting overlooking the lake is exquisite… the dining room is intimate and inviting, but a summer evening on the patio is over the top. The menu has never failed to offer superb selections perfectly prepared.

Breakfast is the best we have had at any B&B, Inn or 5 star hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable with top of the line bath products and plush towels. Beds are comfortable and linens are plumb and pristine. The extras; bikes in great condition, canoes, lounges by the lake and magnificent sunsets. A hike from right out the back of the property up to Mount Pinnacle is well worth it for the magnificent sunsets over Lake Waramaug. We have stay here 4 times a year and have experienced every season. The afternoon snack is an additional treat. The staff are always willing to assist with any questions about the area or making other reservations. There are cottages which allow more privacy than the main Inn, they look rustic from the outside but have all the amenities inside with a balcony. The Carriage House is newer and nice also. The hot breakfast menu is not your normal eggs and bacon afair. The french toast is to die for with the maple pecan butter. The Sunday brunch is wonderful too. Olives in Preston is a great place to eat also. I love the shopping in Kent which is close by and their Saturday farmers market. In the fall, Avrill Farm’s is a treat for apples too!

The place was gorgeous and the accommodations top notch and worth the splurge as they really do include everything, water sports, bicycles, bottled water (everywhere for the taking) and a gourmet breakfast daily. Food was spectacular and the staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Kudos to Dave, the bartender/Maitre’d, Millie at reception and our fabulous (and very fun) breakfast waitress.
We’ll be back!

I recently spent a weekend at the Boulders Inn and feel that it is a big secret that more people should know about! The accommodations were most comfortable and pampering; the food was good enough to consider it a 5 star restaurant. Service was great and the setting is so pretty.
